"Visionaire first featured the designs of Lee ALexander McQueen in 1996. Since that time, he has been a continuous inspiration and a presence in Visionaire. McQueen's special commissions are among our most treasured contributions. His daring designs and challenging ideas of fashion have consistently excited and provoked us. In 2003, McQueen came to our SoHo office and gallery to discuss collaborating aon an issue of Visionaire…an issue that never came to be. This is our tribute to him."

The Amazing , The Audacious Agyness Deyn!

Agyness Deyn is looking very supermodel ! Image via frillr.comAgyness Deyn is looking very supermodel ! Image via frillr.com

God bless Agyness Deyn. I won't name any names but when you Q+A models for a living, that occupation can sometimes be challenging. Some girls are so young and so sweet, they say little. Not Agyness Deyn. The Mancunian icon is the single best model interview I ever did in my life. This was a Q+A we did last summer (it was a blazingly hot day in NY) at Superstudio Industria for a Spur magazine cover story that was being shot at the time. Forgive some of the references to clubs now defunct (Misshapes, Boombox) but I just wanted you to get the unedited Agyness Deyn experience. I wish you could hear her voice while we spoke. I laughed throughout the entire conversation because of that mad and adorable accent. She looked like this cute little anime figure with her blonde shock of hair standing on end like she had an electric current running through her. Agyness' vivid eyes twinkled with fun and mischief throughout the whole talk. After being stunned by her veeeery soigne and sophisticated SS08 Armani/Samsung ads as seen on frillr.com I thought it would be lovely to pull her tapes out of the archives. Here's the amazing and audacious Agyness Deyn on the record about her back story, her personal style and her plans for the future. The tape started rolling just as I was telling Aggy about the joy of growing up in NY.

TI:Its such a big city you can get a whole spectrum of experiences from it.
AD...and then again I think its so small in a way. I think , like you hang out in certain areas

The Politics Of Fashion

Take that Henry Holland!Take that Henry Holland!

Showstudio has a new intiative underway that TI really loves. In fact we're scheming to shoot a short film entry in the next few weeks when we zip through Kingston. In any case here's the info straight from the SHOWstudio blog. And how we adore this pithy little slogan on that outraged dowager's placard. Stephen Jones says the whole thing was staged. Which makes it even more genius!

Here's one to mobilise you all! Believing fashion to be political in its sheer ability to communicate, Nick Knight has conceived of a multi-level project, encouraging creatives to use the medium of fashion to convey their political beliefs, agendas and thoughts. From the beginning of December 2007, the first stage of 'Political Fashion Films' invites you to submit a film of between 30 seconds and 3 minutes that articulates some kind of political point -be it an ideological platitude or a petty grudge- using fashion. Inkeeping with previous film seasons 'Moving Fashion' Editing Fashion', in February 2008, this invitation will be opened up to a wide selection of fashion industry, art world and celebrity figures, whose Political Fashion Films will also be broadcast on the SHOWstudio website, one-per-day. The end of the project will be marked by a screening event to be held in London during Spring 2008.
