This volume documents four sound pieces that dramatize auditory illusions, effectively composing within the relationship between our perception of pitch and the localization of sound, as we process the two in our auditory cortices. The pieces are partly transcribed using a form of notation called “typotranslation,” developed by Hecker at MIT.

In February of this year, in a sprawling Greenpoint loft , I made the acquaintance of Marques Toliver. We were put together for the purposes of possibly doing business by my friend Filip at Playout, a brand and talent management company in Antwerp.
Early February was the frenzy of Fashion Week, so I had debated whether I really wanted to jump on the G train to parts unknown of Brooklyn to weigh the future market index of another up and coming young musician. I mean, I love listening to music, but how the hell do you know musical stardom in advance?
