Dominque and Salieu by Gavin Thomas

I love the illusions of fashion. Gavin Thomas took Red's Salieu and Dominque into Brooklyn's Prospect Park on that weekend when the temperatures in NY soared past 100 degrees F. He managed to spin an illusion that these snaps were taken in some hillside village of Jamaica or Mali. Its equal to the illusion given by the models themselves, that they are some kids straight out a Malick Sibide photograph, when in fact they are NY bred! Nice dance around all those meddlesome visa issues too! For this edit I chose to highlight the pics of Salieu as we have some pending shots of a solo Dominque shoot coming this way. I especially like the shot with the suitcase on the bench. Cute touch!

Shameer Khan snaps Salieu Jalloh

18 year old Red fledgling Salieu Jalloh from Sierra Leone posed in front of lens of 18 year old photographer Shameer Khan and the results were beautiful. There something about these pics with the everyday wear and perfectly calculated casualness that remind me of that legendary Corrine Day shoot with Kate (Not to infer Salie is a new boy Kate or Shameer, a Corrine ). It' s very high school kids hanging out in a New York City park snapping shots of each other and I adore the truth of that. This is a testament to the ideal of picking up the camera and bravely expressing your viewpoint. Tracking down Mr Khan's contact info to give him due props!

I love Dave and George at Red Models. Such fanatics those two. Whether scouting or booking, cajoling clients or snapping digitals, these guys commit with such a passion to their models, you realize why fashion needs new blood. New blood is not jaded and it never sleeps.Right now Red is polishing up their better boys for the FW 08 men's shows in Milan and Paris.
