March In The Name Of Art

Early September wasn't all about Fashion Week in New York . It was also the time of the third annual Deitch Projects Art parade, held this year on September 8th . Consisting of artists, performers and designers creating floats, balloons, placards, portable sculptures, performances and street spectacles, this year's edition brought a touch of the surreal to the streets of Soho.
Organized by Deitch projects, Creative Time and Paper Magazine, this years parade involved over 700 participants, making it the largest and most enthusiastic yet. This year's parade included Kenny Schraf, The Conundrums,Tauba Auerbach, Assume Vivd Focus, Matthew Rodriguez, Coco Demoiselles, Tevor Stone and the Dazzle Dancers.
Here are some of the highlights from the calvacade photographed by TI's new art correspondent Ghurron Briscoe.
Stay tuned for Mr. Briscoe's coverage of the Salon 94 Freeman's Alley bash with Hama Bhabba and Paul P's Printed Matter launch party for his brilliant new book "Nonchaloir". Plus tommorow night we check out the "Sex In The City" opening at the Dumbo Arts Center which should result in an audience with that goddess, Marilyn Minter.
