TOKYO DIARY (TEXT DRIVEN)

I had one of the best days of my life last week in Tokyo, exploring the city's art gallaries, boutiques, style districts , restaurants and bookstores. It really was the dream of theimagist come true...setting down in a foreign town and gorging on all its hidden lusciousness in a 24 hour span. For this I thank Mana Igarashi at Spur with all my heart. Tokyo completely seduced me and I can't wait to get back in April.

I hadn't left NY is almost two months which was quite unusual as the big grinding machine that is Gotham usually has me ground out after a three week cycle. But now that Spring is clearly here, I find myself running through the city streets excited, invigorated and stimulated. (Literally!) I love how the new kids are dressing now in those clashing colors, in that skintight silhoutte, with all that generation/seperating bravado. I see more eccentricity, daring and individuality than I have seen in a long time. I love Agyness Deyn , I love all these exciting new bands and DJ's bursting out of not only America and England but also from Germany, Canada, France and Australia. I love how much information you can glean from Google/MySpace/Facebook/Youtube and I love that every entrepreneur large and small gets into the viral marketing of that. In other words I love the time I'm living in, the late Zeroes.

The Amazing , The Audacious Agyness Deyn!

God bless Agyness Deyn. I won't name any names but when you Q+A models for a living, that occupation can sometimes be challenging. Some girls are so young and so sweet, they say little. Not Agyness Deyn. The Mancunian icon is the single best model interview I ever did in my life. This was a Q+A we did last summer (it was a blazingly hot day in NY) at Superstudio Industria for a Spur magazine cover story that was being shot at the time. Forgive some of the references to clubs now defunct (Misshapes, Boombox) but I just wanted you to get the unedited Agyness Deyn experience. I wish you could hear her voice while we spoke. I laughed throughout the entire conversation because of that mad and adorable accent. She looked like this cute little anime figure with her blonde shock of hair standing on end like she had an electric current running through her. Agyness' vivid eyes twinkled with fun and mischief throughout the whole talk. After being stunned by her veeeery soigne and sophisticated SS08 Armani/Samsung ads as seen on frillr.com I thought it would be lovely to pull her tapes out of the archives. Here's the amazing and audacious Agyness Deyn on the record about her back story, her personal style and her plans for the future. The tape started rolling just as I was telling Aggy about the joy of growing up in NY.

TI:Its such a big city you can get a whole spectrum of experiences from it.
AD...and then again I think its so small in a way. I think , like you hang out in certain areas

Leading In London: Miss Alice Dellal

The London kids have been descending on NY in droves , vibrating with energy and excitement and hungry to eat this city alive! They're telling all about what's fun in London right now. On the list:

1. Do a dinner at Mahiki in Mayfair, though you think it would have gone dead by now. But that's London for you. A Tiki spot that still keeps pulling in Prince Willie and Kate Middleton, Kanye West (who's a prince willie in his own right), Madonna and Giles Deacon. No guest list, no attitude no drama. Sounds like a vacation after the guest lists, attitude and drama of NY Fashion Week parties!

2. Stick to Shoreditch. It too, is still carrying on. Boombox still booms, Bistroteque will be mad. Loyalty's a gorgeous thing!

3. Set up an interview with Alice Dellal (she of that Casaraghi clique) now over at Select and Testino's new muse as seen in the current issue of Paris Vogue. Well we always love girls who shave the left side of their heads.

4. Expect big things from Henry Hollland! Awesome Aygness Deyn tips us off that Holland's SS08 LFW collection is going to be proper, full on and may-jah! "I'm really proud of him. It looks amazing!" hypes Agyness. Sold!
