Giorgio Moroder

CURRENT LISTENING:GIORGIO MORODER: E= MC2

Giorgio Moroder was the producer behind Donna Summer's genius "I Feel Love". There's a famous story, which David Bowie likes to wheel out, about that time in the late 70's when Brian Eno rang him up screaming that he had just heard the future. He dashes over to Bowie's hotel room and puts on "I Feel Love" . " That wonderful soulful singing over that cold Germanic machine music! It's the future!" Eno was said to have declared. He was right. TI loves cold Germanic machine music and this track is taken from Moroder's solo album E=MC 2. Get into the shout-outs to the production team at the end. Hilarious!

CURRENT LISTENING: MIDNIGHT EXPRESS SOUNDTRACK:GIORGIO MORODER

Brad Davis Was Never Scared!Brad Davis Was Never Scared!

Oh yes. I'm having a severe 70's flashback this weekend. "Eyes Of Laura Mars" on the screen and for some reason I can't stop downloading all this super-cheesy 70's/early 80's synth-pop dance music onto the I-pod. Its not even hit material, but all the obscure stuff I'm planning to play in Paris should in case my DJ-ing services be called upon (hint, hint). Right now Giorgio Moroder's soundtrack for Midnight Express is on heavy rotation. Every time I hear the love theme, it makes me laugh. If you've ever seen the film you'll get the irony too. Here's a short list of the other old school tracks I'd bang at a hotel room party (hint hint).

Theme from The Warriors:Barry de Vorzon
The Chase: Gorgio Moroder: Midnight Express
Theme From Bladerunner: Vangelis
Theme From Tron: Wendy Carlos
Football Fight: Queen: From "Flash Gordon"
Tenebre: Goblin ( super-sampled by Justice for "Phantom")
I'm Ready: Kano(not movie related but a great segue away from synth into 80's funk)

Special shout out to discoworkout.com ! I owe you guys a post. One Love.
