"Anything that triggers you to take a picture is a creative and personal decision . That is the moment that you're saying, I need that . I need to see more of that. This is what I've been looking for and no one else could give it to me . That's what makes your work specific. That's how people can recognize your work."

WORSHIPING AT THE ALTAR : PRIESTESS NYC

Mr Cody Ross keeps the tradition of New York cult cool burningMr Cody Ross keeps the tradition of New York cult cool burning

In the midst of the frenzy of last month's New York Fashion Week, I popped into this rather eminent West Village townhouse for a quick appointment . I discovered that the townhouse was the domain of a very energetic young designer with a line dubbed "Priestess NYC" . The room was jammed packed with cool kids from Paris, a certain ID fashion editor, a steady stream of buyers and curious fashion journalists. Quelle scene, I thought. Then the information came to light that Priestess NYC was a line that has been rocked by everybody from Bjork to Tyra Banks and Nathalie Portman. (Damn...where have I been) Cody Ross, the creator of the line is one of those Only-In-New York figures, originally from Dallas, Texas with stop-offs at the London School Of Economics and Central Saint Martin's. After trading texts and emails back and forth for roughly a month TI finally caught up with Cody for a coffee and the swift unraveling of his amazing design narrative.
