American artist Sterling Ruby’s first solo exhibition in China

"In this exhibition the artist is exploring the idea of the vampire as a way of reassessing the uncontrollable and insatiable drives that inform the darker aspects of human behavior. The vampire can also be seen as a stand-in for the actions of an American empire consuming the vitality and resources of other nations. The vampire is a predatory being, nonetheless the idea of the vampire has a vital and seductive hold on contemporary culture and the popular psyche. In this sense, the vampire embodies a reinvigorating generative force."
