Kate and Laura Mulleavy joined two of the art world's most highly acclaimed photographers, Catherine Opie and Alec Soth, to create the first publication to explore the world of Rodarte. For this monograph, both Opie and Soth created entirely new bodies of work in collaboration with Kate and Laura, examining the many facets of Rodarte's creative spectrum. Rodarte, Catherine Opie, Alec Soth authored by Kate and Laura Mulleavy is published by JRP | Ringier. It includes a text by John Kelsey formatted as a zine insert. Please join Rodarte and acclaimed photographer Catherine Opie for a discussion and signing.

Catherine Opie's portrait series features her subjects on backdrops of bold color, wearing Rodarte pieces selected from a range of seasons from 2008-2010. The images convey intense intimacy and highlight both the individuality of the models and the intricacy of the garments. Familiar Opie models such as Idexa, Jenny Shimizu, and Kate Moenning appear in the book alongside iconic women such as Guinevere van Seenus, Riley Keough and Frankie Rayder.

Alec Soth spent two weeks traveling throughout California with a map he created based on Kate and Laura's connection with the state. He visited and photographed Berkeley, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, Joshua Tree, The Salten Sea and many other sites to capture the varied landscapes and local environments that have inspired Kate and Laura's collections for Rodarte. Soth applied his documentary style and distinctive eye to these places, evoking a personal history of Kate and Laura through his own eyes.
