TI PREVIEW: ROE ETHRIDGE : "Le Luxe" THE ANDREW KREPS GALLERY

Tokyo Night: Roe Ethridge at Andrew Kreps GalleryTokyo Night: Roe Ethridge at Andrew Kreps Gallery

TI's love for the work of artist Roe Ethridge is unabashed, which is why I'm very excited to share this exclusive preview of some of the images you will see tonight should you choose to visit the opening of Ethridge's new show at the Andrew Kreps Gallery. Frankly, in our eyes Roe Etheridge's photography is one the few propositions actually invigorating the art and fashion world with a fresh and innovative point of view. It's that fluid and instinctual way of handling the usually banal idea of glamour and beauty that we deeply love. Be sure to visit this show.

Your taste in art is very

Your taste in art is very poor like your writing skills and your upbringing in Brooklyn.

I didnt grow up in Brooklyn.

I didnt grow up in Brooklyn. Though I wish I had. Your bigotry is the real poverty here. To still think in such a way is the ultimate destitution.

I'm siding with the

I'm siding with the troll.

Essentially, this blog is about 2 things. Nowness, and inter-arts elitism. The focus in content plus the brevity / infrequency of your posts create a pretty convincing cultural authoritarianism that only unravels when you talk about art.

Ethridge isn't that terrible an artist but come on, with the exception of the last image this shit is fucking heinous. I don't mind some of his earlier work but you must admit he's a pretty inconsistent image maker. His work is filled with kitsch allusions to past commercial photography, which imo is the only explanation for his relative acceptance amongst the formats cognoscenti. And even then, his dedication to the paradox between insider / amateur is so tepid in execution that it hardly pardons his formalistic shortcomings. I far prefer the relational aesthetics content you lift from vvork et al.

Apologies if this was a bit hateful. I got the aspergers so it's hard to tell sometimes. Btw, the troll was talking about this: "way of handling the usually idea"

Hateful is ok. The art world

Hateful is ok. The art world needs haters. It's part of the game. Standing around in galleries drinking free wine , hating other people's success. Then going home and crying cuz you know your shit is being ignored because you just don't have that special spark. That must be painful. For you. Not for Roe.

Don't try to sass me junior,

Don't try to sass me junior, hating on critics for being conceited aspirers is about as played as the imagery you're defending... Although to be fair his spark is pretty special – Cigarette butts and a plastic bag caught in an updraft... Genius.

I don't mind what people say

I don't mind what people say about me or what I do as long as they keep talking. I like strong reactions good or bad. And I'm grateful for the kind words and support. Thank you very much for that.

I could not agree with you

I could not agree with you more, TI. I think you're amazing and I thank you for the daily enrichment of my life you bring.

Taste is a dictatorship.
