Abbey Lee playing dress up for TI

TI spent most of yesterday morning lensing video on Abbey Lee, the 18 year old Aussie kicking up quite a booking storm in Manhattan in the waning minutes of the 2007 booking season. The video was for MDC and the photo-shoot we had commissoned was for Spur where she'll be my It Girl for Jan (on the heels of Adina Forisz and Toni Garrn) I couldn't quite understand why Stephen Lee, her manager kept insisting I meet her but I'm now really glad he did. Abbey in pictures is super-pretty and playful and perky but in person...totally rock chick. She wore knee high Doc Marten boots and a kind of funny floral blouse. I really got into that contradiction. She's got a nose piercing and a too adorable gap in her teeth. That adorable gap probably explained the major shoot she just lensed where she was cast alongside Lauren Hutton. Lauren kept hugging her, off camera declaring her "a baby me!" . Props to that debonair blue-chip lens god who saw that connection and put them together! She doesn't look like Kate Moss but she had that same nonchalant, unaffected way of handling her beauty Miss Moss does. Its very seductive. Abbey Lee loves the music of Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton and interestingly enough Kate Bush. She's going to spend New Year's Eve in San Francisco with her boyfriend who she describes as an even bigger hippie than herself "I can just smell the patcholi now," she said with a laugh. Abbey Lee also told a hilarious tale of being rejected for the VS show. Her bust measurements were so small she said the only thing VS that could have fit her would have been a training bra. In any case a tiny bustline is not a fashion liability for AL. All the mags from Vogue Italia back to Numero, 10 and Self Service are ringing up for her and a major major casting director already has her earmarked for one of NY's most coveted show. But I don't want to force anyone to believe the hype. I just loved hanging out with a new girl who actually had presence, personality and a wicked sense of humor.
