Nearly 3,000 vinyl records will fill the Third Floor Main Gallery just waiting to be walked on
The waning days of summer are here but a chance to pop down to P.S. 1 for that legendary Warm Up Series even as you get to stomp on some art. Details after the jump.
Warm Up has been extended for an extra Saturday due to the cancellation on August 29th.
On Sept 5 from 2-9PM, Warm Up gets retro with special guests The Glenn Branca Ensemble and Coati Mundi (of Kid Creole and the Coconuts). Other performers include Rong Music master DJ Spun, DJ duo TBD (Lee Douglas & Justin Vandervolgen), and “no-wave noisemakers” Carlos & Okkyung Lee.
This Saturday will also be the unveiling of a huge site-specific installation by Christian Marclay, 2822 Records (PS1), 1987-2009. Nearly 3,000 vinyl records will fill the Third Floor Main Gallery just waiting to be walked on. No joke -- you will be encouraged to literally tread records. If curiosity is killing you, check out the attachment.
The final Warm Up on Sept 12 will feature Shelter veteran Timmy Regisford and avant-garde composer/performer Duane Pitre.
