Down in New York's Financial District these days it's like the reverse of the Soho 70's when an industrial wasteland occupied by pioneering artists became a new commercial hub. Now the vacancies left by the crumbling Wall Street monolith is being filled by enterprising young artists. I love the incredibly tall buildings built on those dark and narrow streets. Everything feels so gothic...so precarious...these 50 story towers teetering on a needlepoint. Sometimes on rainy New York nights you look out the window and you're faced with a Peter Hujar picture waiting to happen.
