Dashwood Books has been billed as "the only NY bookstore exclusively devoted to photography" . I'd take that hype three steps further and dub it the best bookstore in New York right this minute. It is not only the perfect location (on Bond Street across from Oak and One Mgmt) . Nor is simply the virtue of an eclectic (and eccentric) selection of titles ranging from Ari Marcopoulos' brilliant monograph of xeroxed images ("The Chance Is Higher") to signed copies of Hedi Slimane's "Rock Diary" . What makes this store so spectacular is the staff that shows you the most amazingly inspirational reference material while encouraging you to pop by just to chat and hang out. I did just that last Friday and total fell in love with the entire Dashwood proposition. The warmth and the intelligence, the passion and the curatorial precision of this store has inspired me to visit weekly. Stay tuned for TI updates on the latest finds there.
