Axel Vervvoordt's Timeless Interiors: Inevitable collector's item
Axel Vervoordt's named first entered my consciousness through an article in W magazine. There was a paragraph in which the legendary antique dealer/collector lit a fire in his Belgian castle...with a scented wood chip, as opposed to a common and sulphurous match. "what style!," I thought and set off on a search for scented wood chips. Never found it in New York but Vervoordt's "Timeless Interiors" is a great consolation prize for TI. The most amazing aspect of Vervoordt's vision is his commitment to an idea of beauty and the well lived life that respects a wide range of objects: from contemporary art to ancient artifacts of Asian, European or African provenance. Going through the pages upon pages of the work Vervoordt has done on his own castle as well as for his choice clients teaches you that "luxury" and "beauty" does not have to be expressed in a heavy and obvious way, but can be engaged in a subtle, tasteful and spiritual way.

Not married...well...very recently divorced...and you find me those wood chips I'm so yours. Especially if you have a seventeenth century castle to go with it LOL.

Ouch. And then TI picked himself, dusted himself off, and started all over again.
A 17th century castle? Our attorney is going to have to draw up some serious prenups. ;-)
