I'm been staring at those 80's issue of Vanity magazine, the Italian publication that was a contemporary (and an influence) on those English style bibles like The Face, ID and Blitz. The illustrated cover that had a strange kind of portrait realism to them are like a time warp twist on the hyper-real photo-illustustrations that face us on covers and in ads these days. Love the emotion caught in these sketches, exactly the thing missing in an over-computerized face.
