Check out BMW's new prototype GINA light visionary model concept car . Instead of the conventional plastic and steel body shell, it actually dares to use a fabric "body" stretched over a wire frame. This allows the vehicle to morph its shape as door open, light blinks and curves change. It really is a revolutionary design idea, one Ti can't wait to flaunt speeding down Mulholland!

i saw the car yesterday in munich. it is really worth visiting the new reopened bmw museum. go see it! the museum is fabulous and the gina is breathtaking!
idk
I watched the video on youtube, the fabric looks like it came from a halloween costume. as in cheap. It looks sexy, I give you that ... but fabric? it's a little low tech. BMW should be researching and testing not only culturally new technologies (like the novel idea of fabric on cars), but also scientific breakthroughs that will not only make cars more safe, but more efficient. GINA seems more like a PR STUNT TO ME. although, it is supposed to be the study model for the Z4, which I guess is cool. but I don't really like that model anyway.... I feel like Audi is where it is at right now in German style. VW is fun. But BMW seems to be getting older and older. Case and point = iDRIVE. seems like a new and innovative system, but really it is just a boring and clumsy half-solution to a complicated problem, integrating the car and the drive into a coherent symbiosis --
GINA seems to fall short for me. it is hot as hell, it looks awesome ... but it feels as hollow as its fabric skin -- like a automotive red herring: LOOK OVER HERE AT OUR FABRIC CAR! while we ignore the real problem: the car is broken, and we need to fix it by taking bold steps.
But, as a reader of this blog, I must admit ... it looks goooood.
