Urs Fischer takes it there

Cultural analysis, catharsis, shamanistic insight , technical prowess...there are many a contemporary artist who employ these aspects in constructing their art. TI loves all that mixed with visual wit. As such I really regret missing Urs Fischer's event at the Gavin Brown gallery where he created a crater in the middle of the space. So much came to mind ... escavation sites, Ground Zero, the perpetual state of construction Manhattan seems to be going through. Talk about felt metaphor! I'm going through a moment of fascination with art that destroys space and defiles the sanctimoniousness of the immaculate gallery context. Let's hope a major institution gives Fischer a chance to restage the concept.
